Commuting Goes Green!
Our relationship with BART began when we offered free consulting to help find an Operator for Fruitvale Bike Station. It turned out no one else wanted to operate it, and wanting to see a safe bike parking station open up at Fruitvale, we went all-in.
This service is a sweet way to commute to work without cars. Simply ride over the Fruitvale Bridge, hand your bike to our valet and sign-in, and be comforted knowing your bike is dry and secure. Heck, we'll even repair your bike while you work, ensuring you can stay with your routine. Get your heart pumping, do your small part helping the environment, and even save some dough in avoiding parking and gas money.
We now operate Bike Stations at the following BART stops: Fruitvale, Embarcadero, Berkeley, Ashby (summer 2010).
Quick Facts
- Fruitvale and Berkeley are fully-staffed valet stations with repair facilities to fix your rig. Valet parking is free. We are closed for all national holidays.
- Embarcadero and Ashby are self-service models utilizing BikeLink security and 24-hour camera monitoring service. Cost is 3 cents an hour 9 am - 6 pm, and 1 cent hourly at other times.
- When warm weather hits, we regularly park 100+ bikes daily at Fruitvale & Berkeley, and 40+ at Embarcadero. Yet we have never turned anyone away.
Why Bike Stations?
Alameda Bicycle created the original Fruitvale Bike Station because of the outpouring demand from our customers. In too many instances, we've seen customers eager to leave the car behind and opt instead to bike and BART to work, only to see that excitement fade once their bicycle gets damaged or stolen.
Due to overwhelming success, we've taken over operations of Bike Stations at Berkeley and Embarcadero BART Stations in 2008.
We're proud to offer a real alternative to your commute, without the hassle and environmental impacts of driving. Your body will thank you for it, too. We hope you join us in our endeavor, and give public transportation a try.
