The Rockhopper 29er is a great entry level mountain bike for anyone looking to get out into the woods. It’s not the lightest bike out there, but the parts are solid and the brakes are nice. It’s got suspension in the front for roots and rocks, and lockout if you’re using it as a city bike. The 29″ wheel is a nice way to get a little extra power to roll over what gets in your way, as the larger diameter gives you the ability to clear smaller obstacles without even thinking about it. There are a ton of great trails in the East Bay and the Rockhopper 29er is a perfect bike to start out on.
