Here’s the all new Roubaix for 2017. The Ultegra drivetrain and Shimano hydraulic disc brakes are familiar. The thru axles have been seen on mountain and cross bikes for a while, but with disc brakes migrating over to road bikes, were inevitable. But the frame here, well, that’s something new.
Specialized is known for not resting on their laurels. The Roubaix, already a fantastic bike in its previous iteration, could have continued on as a best seller for them. This new Roubaix frame has 20mm of suspension in the headtube, designed to improve both smoothness and speed at the same time – if you don’t have to slow down when you hit a bump, you’re going faster. There’s a little extra flex in the seat tube due to the position of the clamp, and the CG-R seatpost. If you’re looking for a bike that is packed with performance and all day comfort, well, we’d recommend that you look here.
