We’ve waited a long time to bring electric bikes into our fleet, and the time has finally come. With the release of Specialized’s new Turbo Vado series, we felt excited about a model enough to bring it into the shop. The Vado 2.0 is a pedal assist mid-drive Class 3 E-bike. As you pedal, the 250 watt motor matches your power output, making it possible to reach a top speed of 28 mph. With a mid drive setup, there’s no motor cables to unhook when you get a flat tire, a less jerky feel than a rear wheel drive motor, and very few proprietary parts.
The Turbo Vado rides incredibly well – Specialized knows a thing or two about frame design, and they spec-ed this one out with a solid component group. They also used a 450 watt hour battery, and enabled the bike to have three different power modes. With all this, you can ride 60+ miles on a charge.
Why ride an E-bike? That depends on the rider. Live in a hilly neighborhood? Want to go further than your fitness allows? Want to do a longer commute without a car? The list goes on.
All that said, come take one for a ride. You’ll feel it immediately. These bikes are a joy to ride.
